Man critically injured in Queens shooting
Diana Rocco reports on a shooting early Sunday morning in Astoria.

ASTORIA, Queens (WABC) -- Police in Queens are investigating a shooting early Sunday that left a man critically injured.

It happened at about 4 a.m. on Steinway Street between 28th and 30th Avenues in Astoria.

Witnesses heard several shots fired. A 23-year-old man sitting in a car was struck in the neck and chest, and taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

It is not clear whether the gunman fired from a car or was on foot. The gunman left the scene in a dark-colored Mercedes at a high rate of speed, according to police.

An NYPD car responding to the shooting got into an accident several blocks away involving three other cars.

No one was seriously injured.
