NYPD rescues man who fell off ship
The NYPD came to the rescue of a man who fell off a ship.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Dramatic video shows the NYPD rescuing a worker who fell 35 feet off a ship into the ocean.

At about 1:20 p.m. Thursday, the NYPD was notified that a 24-year-old man had suffered a fall onboard a commercial vessel named High Courage which was located 16 miles to the south of Breezy Point.

He required medical assistance.

The Aviation Unit launched two helicopters and after deploying an Emergency Service Unit medic, the man was stabilized and prepared to be hoisted back into the rescue helicopter.

He was then transported to Staten Island University North Hospital in stable condition.
