West Nyack luring attempt leaves parents on edge

NYACK (WABC) -- Parents in Rockland County are on alert after a man tried to lure a young boy into his SUV in West Nyack Monday.

Police say a 5-year-old boy was playing in his yard on Marycrest Road when the suspect drove his white SUV into the driveway and asked the boy if he wanted to go to the park.

The boy ran inside and told his mother.

When she came outside, the man drove off.

The suspect is described only as a middle-aged man with a mustache.

A search of the neighborhood did not turn up any leads.

Some school districts in the area are encouraging parents to go over safety rules about strangers with their kids.
