Sherri Shepherd bids adieu to "The View"

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Sherri Shepherd bid farewell to "The View" on Monday. She ended her seven year stint as co-host with the show saying, "It's time for my whole new view."

The send-off for her was complete with serenades and tributes. Her co-host and friend Jenny McCarthy said of Sherri, "You are one of the most beautiful human beings I have ever met."

Shepherd confessed to the difficulty she had when she joined the show. During her farewell she admitted, "I cried in my dressing room for three years saying why am I at this table. I don't know what I'm doing."

After many tears and much laughter, Sherri said goodbye. With her son Jeffrey by her side, Sherri allowed him to sign off the program.

In addition to Shepherd, McCarthy will be leaving the program as well. McCarthy was co-host for only one year. Barbara Walters, the show's co-creator, left "The View" this past May. Now only the show's moderator, Whoopi Goldberg, remains.

This fall Rosie O'Donnell will return to the show along with other cast members yet to be named. "The View" airs at 11 a.m. Monday through Fridays on WABC.
