VIDEO: Spicy foods linked to longer life

There's good news for people who like some spice in their meals.

Spicy foods may be linked to a longer life.

A new study found that regular consumption is associated with a lower risk of death.

The benefits could come from a key ingredient called capsaicin, which has been linked to fighting obesity, inflammation, and cancer.

The study's authors are calling for more research to prove their theory.

The study nearly half a million people, from a British medical journal, finds people who ate super spicy food like chili peppers more than once a week were at a lower risk of cancer and heart disease.

The risk was even lower for those who ate spicy foods five or six times a week, and men benefited more than women.
