Eastchester police surround block, determine hostage situation unfounded

EASTCHESTER (WABC) -- Multiple police agencies surrounded 1 Joyce Road in Eastchester after reports of a possible hostage situation.

Eastchester Police received a phone call on a private number saying that he had stabbed his girlfriend and tied up the family. The caller gave police "1 Joyce Road" as the location he claimed he was calling from.

SWAT teams as well as police from Eastchester and neighboring towns were dispatched to the scene. When they got on the scene and were able to gain entry, they discovered the hostage situation was unfounded, and no one was inside the home.

Eastchester Police were able to enter the home, and determined that the hostage situation was unfounded.

The Eastchester Police Department is continuing to investigate the call.
