Investigators said the couple signed a $250,000 life insurance policy two days before the woman's murder. Her husband is being held in jail on a $150,000 bond.
The suspects are accused of taking $20 million in fraudulent loans that were never repaid. Instead of using them for mortgages, they were used for credit card payments, real estate development and to pay off debts.
