CENTERPORT (WABC) -- A popular Long Island catering hall and wedding venue is being forced to close its doors.
The Thatched Cottage in Centerport will shut down this fall after declaring bankruptcy earlier this year.
The Suffolk County business suffered severe damage during Tropical Storm Irene and Superstorm Sandy.
It's now set to close on October 6, after a bankruptcy operating trustee determined the business "cannot continue to operate."
Trustee R. Kenneth Barnard was appointed on July 4. He took over managerial control from longtime owner Ralph Colamussi who filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January.
Letters are being sent out to anyone who booked an event after that date.
Thatched Cottage representatives are looking into selling the business.
