Year's hottest toy trends on display at New York Toy Fair

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Toys are taking over New York City this week, with hundreds of thousands of them on display at the annual Toy Fair at the Javits Center.

How about a space explorer drone? Or laser tag with laser swords using the $200 Reza Ninja? Or Zoomer's newest pet, a $120 chimp. Or there's a pom-pom maker that can decorate a car?

"You're getting a sneak peek at what a lot of families are going to be seeing around Christmastime," toy trend specialist Adrienne Appell said.

There's the voice-activated Barbie Hello Dream House, which comes complete with an elevator.

"We have over 1,200 companies from 102 countries," Appell said. "So think thousands and thousands of toys."

If you are sick of your kids being cooped up inside, there are lots of things to get them moving. Check out Berg's pedal-cart. It runs $1,500, but there are other smaller versions are less than $200.

The latest from LEGO is called Nexo Knights, a fortress that opens up and becomes a rolling tank so you can go to battle against the bad guys.

If you'd like a Go Kart that offers parental controls, the Actev runs $600 and clicks together in 10 minutes.

Finally, for about $50, the Spooner is a cross between a skateboard, a surfboard and a sled. The larger version with a rope runs $100.

Now you know the best and newest, but remember most of these toys are not for sale until the end of the summer.
