Service restored after water main break affects Manhattan's West Side

WEST SIDE (WABC) -- Service is now restored after a water main break affected customers on Manhattan's West Side.

It happened around 10 p.m. Friday night at 48th Street and 11th Avenue.

Crews worked overnight to repair the leak after customers as far south as Chelsea were left with no water or low water pressure.

Officials are telling residents to run their water until it runs clear, but say it is safe to drink.

At about 1:30 a.m., crews were able to shut down the leak and re-route water service from other locations.
