NEW YORK (WABC) -- Tuesday will feature sunny to partly cloudy skies with most locations staying dry.
There is a slight chance of a spotty afternoon shower, mainly north and west of the city, with only a low risk of an isolated sprinkle reaching the city itself. Temperatures will reach around 78 degrees while humidity remains low.
The extended forecast favors dry weather through Wednesday, although some high clouds are expected.
Thunderstorms return Thursday afternoon and night, with a lingering shower or thunderstorm possible Friday before drier air arrives.
Skywatchers will also have something to look forward to late Thursday night. The August full moon, known as the Sturgeon Moon, will coincide with a strong partial lunar eclipse shortly after midnight. During the eclipse, the moon may take on a reddish appearance as sunlight filtered through Earth's atmosphere reaches the lunar surface. Cloud cover, however, could affect viewing conditions.
Saturday looks ideal for beach plans, while Sunday should be partly sunny with only a slight chance of a late-day shower.
Conditions turn more humid again Monday with a mix of sunshine and clouds.
