NEW YORK (WABC) -- Thursday is shaping up to be the standout day of the next seven, and possibly the nicest weather we'll see for the rest of the month.

Temperatures surge back into the mid-70s, making it the warmest day until May. Expect partly to mostly sunny skies, a pleasant breeze, and classic spring warmth that's perfect for getting outside or enjoying the ride.

That said, don't blink. The stretch of beautiful weather doesn't last long.

Friday remains a solid spring day, though notably cooler. Highs fall back into the mid-60s with a mix of clouds and sunshine. While not as stunning as Thursday, it stays largely dry and comfortable.

By Friday night, temperatures dip into the mid-40s, bringing a noticeably chillier feel after sunset.

The weekend tells a different story.

Saturday turns wet, starting with a touch of drizzle in the morning before transitioning to steady rain, particularly during the afternoon and nighttime hours. The rain could become heavy at times, with half an inch to over an inch of rainfall possible. Reduced visibility, ponding on roadways, and travel delays are all concerns as a low-pressure system tracks to the south and west of the area. The heaviest rain is most likely Saturday afternoon through the night.

By early Sunday morning, most of the steady rain should be moving out. However, clearing may take some time. Expect clouds to linger, with the chance for a few leftover showers early, before drier conditions gradually return. Some breaks of sunshine should develop as Sunday progresses.

Monday looks pleasant, featuring a mix of clouds and sunshine - an encouraging reset after the soggy weekend.

However, the quiet weather doesn't stick around for long. Another round of rain is expected Tuesday, with showers potentially lingering into early Wednesday.
