YONKERS (WABC) -- Firefighters in Westchester County are glowing after turning a medical emergency into a special delivery.

Members of Engine 303 in Yonkers were dispatched to a woman in labor over the weekend.

When they reached her, the baby's head was already visible.

The crew jumped into action, delivering the baby girl right there on the spot.

"We told mom she was going to have to start her work, and start to push, and she did," Yonkers Fire Captain Brendan Murray said. "She did a great job. It took about a minute, and a beautiful baby girl came out. And we kind of shook her a little bit, and she cried. It made everybody feel a lot better when we heard that baby crying."

The baby was a month premature.

Both mother and daughter are doing fine.
