Manhattan comic moves into Ikea

NEW JERSEY Yes, the giant discount store!

Eyewitness News reporter Lauren Glassberg has the unique story.

There's something to be said for Swedish hospitality. The store opened its doors to a Manhattan comedian and he's taking up residence for free, for one week.

Mark Malkoff is expecting a lot of visitors over the next week at his new apartment, which happens to be located inside an Ikea.

Mark needed a place to stay for a week while his Manhattan apartment is being fumigated. His wife on the other hand opted to stay with relatives.

"For some reason she doesn't want to stay in a store," he said.

Well it may have to do with the fact that shoppers will be watching Mark's every move. It certainly livens up the shopping experience.

And if you're not planning to shop here, you can check out his exploits on the Web. Everyday there will be video posts on >marklivesinikea.com.

Mark also made a video about checking out all 171 Starbucks in Manhattan on one day.

By the way, Mark will eat food from the Ikea cafeteria. He brought along his trampoline for exercise.

While his Ikea pad doesn't have everything, Mark doesn't really seem to mind.
