Two-alarm fire tears through home in SI

A second-alarm fire tore through the roof of a two-story apartment building in the Granitville section of Staten Island -- sending nine residents fleeing the flames. Eyewitness News is told the fire started in the bedroom of a downstairs apartment at at 68 Jules Drive just after 7 a.m. this morning.

Newscopter-7 was live over the scene as heavy flames shot through the two-story structure, out the windows and through the roof.

Nine residents, including four children younger than six, escaped without injury.

Two firefighters were treated for non-life threatening injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
