Man stabbed to death in apartment

A man was discovered dead, possibly fatally stabbed, in a basement apartment in the Carrol Gardens section of Brooklyn Tuesday. Residents say nothing like this ever happens on Carroll Street. That's why neighbors are stunned by this violent murder.

The body of 34-year-old Sanjeer Seekoomar was carried from the apartment where his life met a violent end. Sources say he was stabbed to death in the neck and back.

"I was shocked," area worker Stacey Gardner said. "Nobody saw nothing."

Gardner, like others, say Carroll Street is so quiet that violence of any kind is unusual and disturbing.

The crime scene was dotted with special markers as detectives and officers searched up and down the street, looking through anything and everything for the murder weapon, possibly discarded as the killer fled.

Authorities say the apartment appeared to be ransacked, so robbery is a possible motive.

But neighbors say the area has changed.

"It's scary, really scary," one woman said. "We've never seen this around here before."
