Eyewitness News is told the girl reported the attack to police. She drove around the neighborhood with the officers and spotted the suspect about a block away.
The suspect, 23-year-old Julio Sanchez, who lives nearby, was arrested. Police say he was charged with aggravated sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
He is not believed to be linked to other attacks.
Officials say the girl was taken to Maimonides Medical Center for observation. She was later released. Authorities do not believe she was under adult supervision at the time of the groping.
