Twenty people have been arrested this morning as part of a sweep that has netted more than 50 alleged gang members across North Jersey over the past several weeks.Essex County Prosecutor spokesman Paul Loriquet says raids in Newark, Irvington, Orange and East Orange resulted in the arrests of 20 suspected members and associates of gangs - mostly The Bloods and The Crips.

The arrests are part of 'Operation Spruce Up' - a joint task force that Loriquet says has arrested 35 gang-related fugitives within the last two weeks. He says most of suspects had posted bail for other crimes and never returned - resulting in fugitive warrants.
