Starbucks lists closing stores

Thirty-nine Starbucks in New York among the 600 company-owned stores gourmet coffee retailer Starbucks plans to close in a bid to boost its business and weed out unprofitable locations. A half-dozen of the stores are located in Manhattan. They include two on Broadway, two on Madison Avenue, one on Fifth Avenue and one inside the Macy's on 34th Street.

Five New Jersey stores on the list are on Broad Street in Newark and in Hammonton, Ridgewood, Wayne and Willingboro.

Five stores are also closing in Connecticut.

The company said closing dates would be announced after employees are notified.
