Hometown Hero 10/18/2008: Terrell Bryant Day

Terrell Bryant Day
New York In fact, Officer Day, also a father of two girls, has been recognized by the community for going the extra mile to ensure that children in the Central and West Wards remain safe in their travels to and from school. Having faced the same struggles a child that these children in Newark face on a daily basis in regards to peer pressure, gangs, and drugs, Terrell not only cares about the community, but more importantly, he understands it.

Officer Day also gives back to the community outside of his work responsibilities. As a member of the Freemason's Samson Lodge Nr. 66 in Newark, NJ, Terrell helps to organize numerous charity events. Terrell has also volunteered as the track and field coach for the YMWCA in Newark. For all of these reasons, Officer Day is a Hometown Hero for his work in giving back to his community and keeping its youth safe.

Officer Day currently reports to the Newark Police Department in the west district and serves as a liaison between the Newark Police Department and the Newark Public Schools.
