Hometown Hero 10/16/2008: Margaret Tarulli

Margaret Tarulli
New York Officer Tarulli has already saved the lives of four grateful individuals. In one of those instances, Officer Tarulli noticed a person lying on the floor unresponsive and not breathing. Without hesitation, Officer Tarulli performed the precordial (cardiac) thump and saved that individual's life.

In another instance of bravery and heroism, Officer Tarulli, who was off-duty at the time, saved a young girl's life after the girl had fallen into the subway track during a seizure.

As a mother herself, Officer Tarulli helped a fellow mother-in-need who had stopped breathing.

Officer Tarulli's heroism also applies to friends and family, as she is credited with performing the Heimlich maneuver on a co-worker who had choked on a piece of food.

As a Hometown Hero, Officer Margaret Tarulli's life-saving actions have proven to be a valuable asset to both her agency and to the city.
