The accident happened at 12:30 p.m.
Ali was headed eastbound on the Expressway in his 2000 BMW and pulled to the side of the road after his tire went flat.
Maynard, of 17 Mount Rainier Ave., Farmingville, was driving in the right lane when her vehicle hit Ali.
He was transported by the Holtsville Fire Department to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 1:21 p.m.
Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the Sixth Squad at 854-8652.
