Police: Off-duty cop kills wife, self

SELDEN Authorities say Sixth Precinct patrol officers were dispatched to Savoy Court after a 911 caller told police that her mother had just been shot by her father at 12:35 p.m.

When police arrived, they discovered 46-year-old Elena Cole dead in an upstairs bedroom.

Police say she had been shot and stabbed by her husband, 48-year-old Francis Cole, an off-duty New York City Police Department lieutenant.

Francis Cole was transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
