Bodega owner murdered during robbery

JERSEY CITY Family members were grieving in the street as police began looking for the gunman.

The shooting happened at a bodega in a section of Jersey City where residents rarely deal with any crime. But family and friends who came to the location were stunned.

Many family members rushed to the scene after the broad-daylight shooting, in which Kirit Parikh was shot once in the head. The incident happened just before 10 a.m.

They were in visible pain as they heard the news about the murder. The bodega was located on the corner of 7th Street and Coles Street.

"I've been living here for almost seven, eight years," friend Mohammad Aqeel said. "He was such a nice guy. He never bothered nobody...He worked hard, and everyday go home. I've never seen any trouble with anyone with him."

Police are searching for the suspect or suspects involved in the murder.
