Shots fired at cops in Queens

QUEENS Shots were fired at officers who were responding to a call of a dispute with a firearm near the intersection of 225th Road and 114th Avenue just after 6:30 a.m.

The shots were reportedly fired by one of two men standing outside the house.

One of the men fled on foot and was nabbed after a chase through the neighborhood. The other man ran into the house as a gun fight erupted.

No one was hit by the bullets.

Scores of police descended on the quiet neighborhood, closing streets as they took up positions around the house.

Highly-armed officers crouched behind police cars and armored vehicles.

After a brief standoff, as many as five people inside the house were taken into custody.

A .357-caliber hand gun, which was apparently thrown out the window of the house, was recovered at the scene.

Two police officers were taken to North Shore University Hospital for treatment of trauma. They were not seriously hurt.
