Investigators said that a Toyota Corolla driven by a 16-year-old male was traveling south bound on Brookville Boulevard when he crossed over into the north bound lane and collided with a Kia Minivan that was being driven by a 70-year-old woman.
Police said there were six people in the Corolla.
The 70-year-old woman was hospitalized in stable condition.
The 16-year-old driver and a front seat passenger were killed. The four other passengers, all males in their late teens, were transported to Jamaica Hospital and North Shore Hospital in guarded condition.
The driver of the Kia was transported to North Shore Hospital in stable condition.
No names were released.
The state's Dept. of Motor Vehicles Web site says drivers under
the age of 18 with a junior license or learner's permit are not
allowed to drive in New York City.
