Residents jump out window to flee robbery

MORRISANIA Eywitness News is told some children walking by the area at the time the incident happened.

Police say the building where this happened has been the source of trouble for quite some time, but never anything like this.

Residents who live nearby say they heard what sounded like gunfire and thought there was trouble on the block.

"I heard a couple of gunshots -- like two or three shots. Then I came downstairs like around 7:35 or 7:40 a.m.," resident Christian Gonzalez said.

The two men were found outside 1050 Cauldwell Avenue building just before 7:30 a.m. this morning.

Eyewitness News is told the two men were rushed to Bronx Lebanon Hospital and they're expected to survive. Although, one victim was said to be bleeding badly.

The two had apparently jumped out their second story window as they fled three suspects.

One dog, a pitbull tried to escape out of the window, but was apparently choked by its own leash.

Meanwhile, another dog, this one alive, was found inside the apartment.

Police say they found marijuana in the second floor apartment where the incident took place.

They are looking for three people, two men and a woman, the possible gunmen and suspects in the this crime.

Police also say they are looking into the possibility that the building is occupied by squatters.
