Teenage girl thwarts home intruder

ARMONK, New York Katherine Weiss was at home in Armonk during Monday's school break when a man rang the doorbell.

The scared teen instinctively took 9-year-old Caroline to safety, then called 911 as the man came in through a rear window.

He apparently ran out after hearing the girls upstairs.

Sgt. Bob Barnett of the North Castle town police says Katherine "really kept her cool" and "handled herself exceptionally well under a stressful situation."

The suspect was arrested after a short chase and charged with burglary.
