70-year-old woman attacked by 2 pit bulls

Bayonne, NJ Maria Zaldana was attacked Friday morning outside the two pit bull's home on West 34th Street.

Zaldana was walking to her job at "Say it with Flowers" in Bayonne at the time of the attack.

Officials say Zaldana suffered numerous puncture wounds, and has skin torn off her face, knee, calf, and scalp.

The dogs' owner Jessica Manno, was in Florida at the time of the attack.

She says the dogs were being looked after by her sister, Kristy Manno.

Manno says she ran outside as soon as she heard Zaldana's screams.

She reports that she accidentally left the gate open and the male pit bull dog had pinned Zaldana against a truck while the female dog barked.

Zaldana was the rushed to the Jersey City Medical Center, and was later transferred to the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark. The pit bulls have been placed in quarantine at the Associated Humane Society in Newark.

Police say Manno was issued two summonses for having unleashed dogs.
