A bus driver at a Bellport intermediate school was charged for duct taping a student's mouth shut. Eyewitness News is told Norman Besemer was charged with endangering the welfare of a child in the incident, which occurred last Monday.

He was arrested last night and will be arraigned in March.

Officials say Besemer, a driver for Frank P. Long Intermediate School, pulled over when students were making too much noise.

He allegedly put tape over the child's mouth for 10 minutes in between stops.

Officials at the South Country School District in Bellport fired Besemer after learning of the incident.
