NJ officials to announce Amber Alert changes

TRENTON, N.J. Attorney General Paula Dow will discuss the changes Wednesday.

The revisions follow the disappearance of Zara Malani-Lin Abdur-Raheem, who police say was thrown from a highway bridge Feb.

16.

East Orange police notified other law enforcement agencies about her abduction but didn't ask state police to send an Amber Alert, information about a missing child broadcast on television and radio stations and posted on electronic highway message boards.

State rules have discouraged use of the alerts in domestic cases.

Zara's father has pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges.

A baby's body has been found but hasn't been identified.
