12 people freed from stuck elevator

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS The elevator became stuck around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday at the subway station on 168th Street and Broadway.

It apparently stopped near the 4th floor and had no power or air conditioning.

Crews freed the trapped people around 5:30 p.m.

Five of the people suffered injuries.

All five of the injured are listed in stable condition.

The FDNY reportedly removed the people one by one out of the top of the elevator.

The elevator is reportedly back up and working again.
