A Long Island father accused of trying to hide heroin near his children in their car will be in court Wednesday.

Police say they pulled over 26-year-old Richard Neumann, of Medford, on a traffic violation. He was pulled over around 9 a.m. on Montauk Highway.

Officers say he tried to hide heroin and a hypodermic needle near his 18-month-old twins.

Neumann was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, endangering the welfare of a minor, criminal possession of stolen property, criminal possession of a hypodermic needle and driving with a suspended license.

The children are in their mother's care.
