Police say the victim suffered blunt trauma to the back of the head. Relatives say Matadin's wallet and jewelry were missing.
Investigators found the body around 1:30 a.m. after being notified by a 911 caller.
Surveillance cameras on a neighbor's home may have picked up something, and that's what area residents hope. They say they avoid the road in question, with its shadowy dead end and bad history.
"A lot of things happen over here," resident Sharmela Ramcharan said. "My friend, she got robbed a couple months ago, as well. It's a dangerous area."
"It's just scary, very scary," resident Carmela Strika said. "They need more lights on the block, because it's very, very dark."
Police have not yet labeled the incident a homicide.
