Veterans' memorial vandalized in New Jersey

PATERSON, NJ

Police say two bronze plaques were removed from stone monuments at a new veterans' park in Paterson overnight.

One lists 18 names of Paterson residents killed in the Korean War, the other the names of 32 Paterson residents killed in Vietnam.

Volunteers worked countless hours to raise money for the plaques, but area veterans say it's not the money they're upset about.

Each plaque weighs 50 pounds.

Police are calling scrap dealers to see if the vandals are trying to sell the bronze pieces.
