New York City has until Friday to accept a judge's plan for hiring new firefighters.

It has to be done without discriminating against minorities.

The judge ruled last month that the department's written exam was discriminatory, and he ordered the city to fix it.

But he also said the city can immediately hire new firefighters using one of the plans he has put forth.
