Prosecutor Stefanie Newman told a jury Monday that a toxicology expert estimated Leyritz's blood-alcohol content when the crash occurred at 0.18 based on tests done three hours later. Florida's legal blood-alcohol limit is 0.08.
Testimony began Monday in the DUI manslaughter trial of the 46-year-old Leyritz. The crash in December 2007 killed 30-year-old Fredia Ann Veitch, a mother of two.
Leyritz, who played for several teams over 11 seasons, is remembered for hitting a dramatic tying home run for the New York Yankees in the 1996 World Series.
