Dog tossed down trash chute nursed back to health

NEWARK

The dog had barely any skin over its bones when someone tossed it down a trash chute in Newark.

The lucky guy they are calling "Patrick the miracle dog" has recovered and needs a home.

Officials say someone nearly starved the one-year-old pit bull mix to death, and then tossed his body in a trash bag and down a garbage chute at the /*Garden Spires Apartments*/ on 1st Street in /*Newark*/.

He was barely alive and hardly moving, but something on him twitched and the maintenance man saw that. He opened the bag, found Patrick and called animal rescue.

The staff at /*Garden State Veterinary Specialists*/ nursed /*Patrick*/ back to health.

Kids at the /*Boys and Girls Club*/ in /*Asbury Park*/ heard Patrick's story and sent dozens of get well and get fat cards. Someone created a Facebook page for him, and small donations are pouring in to help pay for his recovery, which will be a long road.

You can learn more about Patrick and how to help on the Garden State Veterinary Specialists website at www.gsvs.org.
