There is new evidence Tuesday that a common medical procedure is saving lives.

A new study shows that mammograms reduce deaths from breast cancer by 30 percent.

Researchers tracked 130,000 Swedish women for nearly three decades, making it the largest study on the subject.

They found that one breast cancer death can be prevented for every 414 to 519 women who are screened.
