Police say a six-mile stretch of the New York State Thruway near Albany has been reopened after being shut down by a natural gas main rupture at a construction site along the state's main highway.

State Police Sgt. David Malone says there are no reports of injuries or fire. He says they don't know if construction equipment in the area hit the pipe, which burst at about 11 a.m.

Northbound traffic was diverted off the highway at Exit 23 and eastbound traffic was rerouted at Exit 24 for about 90 minutes. All lanes were reopened at about 12:30 p.m., but authorities say there are delays.
