Subway service restored after water main break

NEW YORK

The 20-inch main broke at the intersection of Murray Street and West Broadway just after 3 a.m. Thursday.

Water flooded the Chambers Street station, causing subway disruptions.

Water was flowing down West Broadway early Thursday morning, but by 6 a.m., officials had the main shut down. Subway service resumed by 8:30 a.m., after the water was pumped from the tracks.

Water service was affected for residents near the intersection where the main broke.
