Dozens of weapons surrendered in Queens buyback

NEW YORK

Among the 55 firearms surrendered at a Qeeuns were church were 19 semi-automatic handguns, 35 revolvers and a rifle.

The event Saturday was organized by Queens Borough President Helen Marshall, after a recent spate of shootings in Jamaica.

Gun owners were able to drop off their weapons anonymously, in exchange for a $200 bank card.

Since the program's inception, nearly 7,700 weapons have been recovered.
