Teen wounded when officer shoots at charging dog

NEW YORK

The 17-year-old boy was struck in the leg after the officer fired shots at the charging dog on Himrod Street just after 11:00 this morning.

Police believe he was struck by shrapnel or a ricochet, but not hit directly by the officer's shot.

The injured teen was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.

Three people who allegedly sent the dog charging towards the officer were taken into custody. Charges were pending against them.

THe condition of the dog was not immediately known.

The incident is believed to have stemmed from an investigation into drug activity.
