Husband arrested in Queens deadly stabbing

NEW YORK

Police received a call for an unconscious person on 117th Street in Richmond Hill around 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Responding officers found the unconscious and unresponsive woman, identified as Samantha Seelall, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say she was found stuffed under the bed with a plastic bag over her head. She had also been stabbed several times.

EMS workers say they were greeted by Seelall's intoxicated husband, 39-year-old Ganesh Seelall. He was taken into custody and is now charged with murder, aggravated criminal contempt, tampering with evidence and criminal possession of a weapon.

The couple's daughters are now staying with relatives. Sources say Samantha Seelall had filed an order of protection against her husband, who was also arrested for menacing last December.

Investigators have not released who made the 911 call. The circumstances of the murder remain under investigation.
