Flames could be seen coming out of the roof of the house on Burnside Avenue.
Crews quickly declared a 3rd alarm and called in for help from surrounding towns to help fight the fire.
Firefighters entered the multi-family home trying to battle the blaze that appeared to be on the third floor.
There are no reports of injuries and the cause of the fire is not known.
