Tenafly mom arrested after allegedly hosting underage drinking party

TENAFLY

Officers responded to the scene on Engle Street near Hillside Avenue in Tenafly around 11 p.m. to investigate reports of a loud house party with a large group of juveniles in the area.

When police arrived on scene, they reported approximately 50 to 75 school-aged children fleeing the street.

Additional officers were called to the scene, and after a brief search, they tracked the party to the home of Ivette Wilson, who admitted inside the home at the time of the party.

Officers found dozens of open containers of beer and hard alcohol, as well as marijuana and evidence of cocaine use.

"The amount of hard alcohol observed at the scene, along with the presence of illicit drugs is always concerning at these types of incidents," police Captain Michael deMoncada said. "This type of conduct will not be tolerated, and the Tenafly Police Department will aggressively pursue criminal complaints against anyone who allows underage consumption of alcohol on their property."

Wilson is charged with maintaining a nuisance and allowing underage consumption of alcohol on her property.

She was released on a summons and is due back in court on November 6.

Detectives are also interviewing several witnesses while trying to investigate who may have attended the party. They are also identifying several pieces of unique personal property left at the scene after the party-goers hastily fled as police arrived.

Juvenile charges are expected against anyone identified as attending.

Anyone with more information is asked to call the Tenafly Police Department Detective Bureau at 201-568-5100.
