Meanwhile, he three crew members of the ferry passed alcohol tests that were administered shortly after the accident occurred.
Pat Smith, a spokesman for ferry operator New York Waterway, told The Star-Ledger that the captain and two deckhands were also given drug tests following Friday afternoon's accident. But the results of those tests will not be available until Tuesday.
Alcohol and drug tests are standard procedure following ferry accidents.
The New York Waterway Ferry made a hard landing into the dock at the Paulus Hook Ferry Terminal in Jersey City.
The ferry called "The York" was carrying 24 passengers and 3 crew members from Manhattan when it struck the pier around 4:30 p.m.
Two passengers and two crew members were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
No cause has been determined for the accident, but the Coast Guard and the NYPD Harbor Unit are investigating.
The ferry is owned by Goldman Sachs, but is operated by New York Waterway. Ip Dasan uses it every day to get to and from work.
"I just saw that it was blocked and out of service, I was told by police," says Dasan. "They said there was an accident. I'm waiting for this ferry and checking the PATH schedule, too."
Investigators say the ferry actually hit a pier on the Hudson River that was closed for construction. The pier was a few hundred yards away at the terminal where it usually lands.
Goldman Sachs employees often use the ferry because their headquarters are at the World Financial Center, but there are also offices in Jersey City.
The ferry is open to the public, and began commuter service in February.
