Verizon says a copper line failed, affecting a couple of thousand of the boxes.

Crews have been working to replace the line with a new fiber line.

The outage did not affect the 911 system.

MOst of boxes were back online by Tuesday night.

Residents with affected boxes were asked to dial 911 to report all emergencies.
