A Long Island woman is under arrest and facing charges, accused of stealing jewelry from the homes of people who had hired her as a home tutor for their special-needs children.

Bonnie Blier, 36, of Ronkonkoma, is charged with criminal possession of stolen property and petit larceny.

Beginning on January 3, police received several reports of stolen jewelry in the Hauppauge area.

Detectives conducted an investigation into the thefts, and Blier, a special education tutor who was providing in-home tutoring for children in all the victims' homes, was arrested Tuesday.

Blier, who has an open grand larceny case in Nassau County, was ordered held on $80,000 bond.

This investigation is continuing and Fourth Precinct detectives are asking anyone with information to contact them at 631-854-8446.
