Ward Melville teacher arrested, accused of abusing student

A Long Island high school science teacher was in court Monday, accused of sexually abusing a female student.

Suffolk County police arrested Stephen Malusa, 47, a teacher at Ward Melville High School in East Setauket. According to Suffolk detectives, an investigation revealed that he had abused the student in May 2013.

Malusa, of Selden, was charged with third-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip and is being held on $45,000 bond.
